Toyota Mark II Overview The 9th Generation Toyota Mark II made its debut in 2000. This subcompact sedan, available in both front-engine rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, marked a significant milestone for Toyota with the introduction of direct injection technology in their passenger vehicles. Another groundbreaking feature was the Navi-Al-Shift system, which used GPS signals to optimize the automatic transmission’s gear selection based on road conditions. The 9th Generation Toyota Mark II sported a fresh and revamped design language, with production spanning eight years, from 2000 to 2007. Buyers could choose from two body styles: the 4-door sedan and the 4-door station wagon. Four distinct variants were offered: Grande, IR, Grande G, and IR-V. The 2000 Toyota Mark II’s pricing was competitive within its class in the local market.
Exterior The exterior of the 9th Generation Toyota Mark II embraced a restrained and minimalist design approach. At the front, you’d find angular side-swept headlights, a sizable chrome trapezium-styled grille, dual slim narrow rectangular air intakes, rectangular fog lights, and a protruding bumper. Moving to the rear, there were triangular side-swept taillights and a projecting bumper. In the case of the 4-door station wagon, it featured two large sharp upswept headlights bordered by dual small rectangular upswept headlights, a large trapezium grill with chrome accents, dual standard circular fog lights, and triple narrow slim rectangular air intakes. The rear was characterized by stacked vertical long side-swept taillights, a rear windscreen wiper, and a standard tailgate. Overall, the Toyota Mark II’s exterior design embodied the typical style of early 2000s Japanese sedans and station wagons.
Interior Inside the 2000 Toyota Mark II, the interior boasted black and silver plastic trim elements complemented by wood paneling. Fabric covered both the front and rear seats. The Grande and IR models came with standard features such as traction control, power windows, power steering, power lock doors, a stereo speaker audio system, and automatic climate control. Upgrading to the Grande G and IR-V added leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Xenon headlights, enhanced wood paneling, and power front seats. The IR-V further offered 17-inch alloy wheels as a standard feature. Optional features included satellite navigation, heated front seats, and a power moonroof. The 9th Generation Toyota Mark II offered a generous amount of interior space considering its exterior dimensions, ensuring a high level of comfort and interior refinement.
