Introduction
The 1st Generation Suzuki FX, which made its debut in 1980, holds a special place in automotive history. This front-engine, front-wheel-drive hatchback was a game-changer. Let’s delve into its remarkable journey.
A Legacy Begins
The Suzuki FX (1980-1988) was offered in a single variant, the GA. It was essentially a revamped Suzuki Alto SS40, known by its chassis code, SS80. Production spanned nine years, culminating in 1988. During this period, the Suzuki FX underwent subtle changes, including a transition from a black to a beige interior and an optional air conditioning feature. It stood out in the local market with its competitive pricing.
Suzuki Wagon R Exterior
Exterior
The first-generation Suzuki FX boasts an unmistakably ’80s design. The front end showcases rectangular headlights, a polished silver rectangular grille, and a protruding black bumper. The rear end houses rectangular taillights, a black bumper that extends outward, and the quintessential hatchback. Despite being a product of its time, the exterior design remains minimalist and restrained, even by 1980s standards.
Interior
Inside the 1st Generation Suzuki FX, early variants featured black plastic trim pieces, later replaced by beige plastic trim in subsequent models. Both front and rear seats are adorned with fabric upholstery. All controls are manual, giving it a no-frills charm. However, the cabin’s interior space and comfort level leave room for improvement, considering its exterior dimensions.
