In 2014, Honda unveiled the 6th generation of its globally acclaimed sedan, the Honda City, setting new standards in automotive excellence. This pivotal year also marked the debut of the hybrid variant of the City in international markets. The hybrid version was introduced in Japan under a new identity – the Honda Grace, quickly gaining popularity in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Grace in Pakistan
While the hybrid version, Honda Grace, has yet to make its official debut in Pakistan, enthusiasts in the country have been importing this Japanese Domestic Model (JDM) since 2017. The Honda Grace stands as an exemplar of an economy car, boasting exceptional design aesthetics and fuel efficiency that outshines all other hybrid sedans in the market. This hybrid sedan offers passengers a driving experience that rivals upper-middle-class vehicles.
Exterior Elegance
The Honda Grace has won the hearts of consumers with its captivating beauty from every angle. The front profile is adorned with a honeycomb platinum-plated grille and captivating 4-lamp LED headlights. The rear of the car is equally mesmerizing, with horizontally extended rear lamps that gracefully meet the trunk lid, enhanced by a chrome-plated license plate garnish. A lengthy hood and 160-inch alloy wheels round off the car’s stunning appearance.
Interior Brilliance
Honda has gone the extra mile in equipping the Grace with features that belie its price point. The driver-focused dashboard boasts a 5-inch LCD display panel with navigation, automatic climate control, reverse camera, and Bluetooth audio connectivity. Despite its compact sedan category, the cabin space for rear passengers rivals that of an Accord Hybrid. To enhance passenger comfort, rear AC vents have been included, a feature previously unheard of in sedans of this segment.
Engine Excellence
Under the hood, the Honda Grace is powered by Honda’s SPORT HYBRID i-DCD one-motor hybrid system. This system combines an Atkinson Cycle DOHC i-VTEC 1.5L inline-four engine with an electric motor, energized by a lithium-ion battery pack. The engine generates a robust 110 hp and 134 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 30 hp and 160 Nm of torque to the equation.
Remarkable Mileage
One of the standout features of the Honda Grace is its exceptional fuel efficiency, achieving up to an impressive 30 kilometers per liter, setting a new benchmark among hybrid sedan models in its category.
Facing the Competition
In the Pakistani market, the JDM Honda Grace competes with the Honda City and Toyota Yaris. Within the realm of hybrid sedans, its counterparts include the Toyota Prius and Toyota Aqua.
