After an online reveal in early October, Suzuki finally showcased the next-generation Swift at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show (formerly also known as Tokyo Motor Show). In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the 2024 Suzuki Swift Concept, highlighting its new features and changes that are sure to catch your eye.

Exterior Changes

The new face of the Swift is marked by a slightly smaller honeycomb grille. The Suzuki emblem has been repositioned beneath the clamshell bonnet. The headlights sport a new shape and LED graphics, accompanied by a more subtle bumper intake adorned with aluminum-style trim.

Bi-Tone Profile The profile maintains the bi-tone treatment, with black accents on the mirrors, pillars, and the “floating” roof. A new character line above the conventional door handles distinguishes it from its predecessor. The concept introduces new alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish, adding a production-ready touch in terms of diameter.

At the back, you’ll find smaller, boxier LED taillights with a dark background and black trim on the lower bumper. The concept also introduces the Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic shade, which is likely to be part of the production model’s color palette.

Interior Transformation

The interior has undergone a significant overhaul, borrowing a similar layout from the slightly larger Baleno. White plastic trim extends to the doors with an intriguing texture, giving it a more modern appearance. The free-standing infotainment display, probably a 9-inch unit, features thick bezels and convenient touch-sensitive shortcuts.

Steering and Controls The steering wheel with integrated buttons is a familiar sight from other Suzuki models, as are the revised climate controls with toggle switches replacing rotating dials. The instrument cluster boasts analog dials with a small screen between them. Notably, a CD slot is included on the center console, above multiple USB charging ports.

Advanced Driver Assistance

Suzuki is known for equipping its models with plenty of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in select markets like Europe and Japan. The new Swift is no exception, featuring an enhanced collision mitigation system called “Dual Sensor Brake Support II,” along with “Driver Monitoring” and “Adaptive High Beam” systems.

Dimensions and Powertrain

The 2024 Suzuki Swift measures 3,860 mm (152 inches) in length, 1,695 mm (66.7 inches) in width, and 1,500 mm (59.1 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm (96.5 inches). These dimensions are nearly identical to the outgoing model, indicating it will be based on an evolved version of the existing Heartect architecture.

While Suzuki hasn’t disclosed much about the powertrain, they describe it as a “high-efficiency” engine with “low fuel consumption” mated to a CVT gearbox. Early reports suggest it features a three-cylinder motor with a mild-hybrid system. This engine differs from the current 1.25-liter K12C unit with four cylinders. In addition to the electrified version, an ICE-only version is expected for markets like India, and there are rumors of a “strong hybrid” variant, which could be ideal for the European market.

Expected Release

Based on the concept’s appearance, we anticipate that a nearly identical production-spec 2024 Suzuki Swift will be unveiled in Japan before the end of the year. Additionally, Suzuki has announced the 2024 MY of the existing Swift Sport in Japan, suggesting that the hot hatch version of the new generation will likely arrive in time for the 2025 MY.
